Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to our May newsletter! As we embrace the rainy weather like the grass and plants our school community is alive with learning, collaboration, and celebration. Here are some highlights of what has happened over the last two weeks. I am still loving my time at Chevallum SS and I have told several parents that I wouldn’t mind slowing down time so that I can embrace the community even more. Chevallum is shining in:

 Visible Learning in Action

Our commitment to visible learning continues to shape the educational experiences of our students. Through ongoing classroom visits, observations, and feedback alongside Mrs Persini, our teachers are implementing effective strategies to ensure that learning is not only happening but is visible to all. We encourage parents to engage in conversations with their children about what they're learning and how they're growing. Together, we can celebrate the progress and achievements of every student. Please see one of our amazing students and the work that is being accomplished in our rooms.

Classroom Visits

It is evident that Chevallum SS believe in the power of collaboration between teachers, students, and parents. Over the last fortnight, I have witnessed your child's learning environments and believe they provide valuable insights and strengthen the partnership between home and school. As the leadership team and teachers are holding my hand and indoctrinating me into the Chevallum staple practices ie UDL, and multi aged learning I am continuing to learn and be amazed. Evidenced below is some amazing upper years students and their writing.

Building Collaborative Communities and Mother’s Day Support

Our school thrives on the strength of our community. We value collaboration and believe that by working together, we can achieve great things. Whether it's through our most recent parent-teacher meetings, volunteer opportunities, or school events, we encourage all members of our community to actively participate and contribute. I met the lovely and dedicated P&C members recently and need to continue to applaud their efforts to ensure this weekend is special for all our marvellous mums. Together, we can create an environment where every student feels supported and empowered to succeed. Aligning the dedicated teachers to leadership to administration and back to the wonderful parents is our recipe for success.

 Mother's Day Celebrations

As mentioned above we celebrate the important role of mothers and mother figures in our lives, we invite our students to participate in special activities to honour this day. From handmade cards to heartfelt expressions of gratitude, our students will have the opportunity to show their appreciation for the love and care provided by their mothers. Admittedly, I was raised by a very strong lady who put up with my nonsense and loved me unconditionally. I would encourage everyone to extend your warmest wishes to all mothers in our school community. Your dedication and love are truly appreciated, today and every day.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we work together to create a positive and enriching learning environment for our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Proud Principal

Mr Hazen
